Suspension Shoot with Anomalia
This was an interesting first suspension shoot. To prepare, I cleared a space in the garage, visited the hardware store for the block and tackle, rope, and everything else needed to set up some basic suspension.
I then bolted a 2×4 to the ceiling rafters, and loaded it with about 300 pounds for a test, and finished the set by draping black cloth on the ceiling, floor, back and one side. when complete, I set a large mirror on the floor.
This created a four sided black set with ample room for varied lighting and poses.
In some initial test shots, Anomalia played with the ropes and we fashioned a two loop harness. She was clothed and able to take and hold several interesting poses.
Using this loop harness, the scene was more playful and innocent rather than taking on a bondage theme.
Later, when we began to shoot, without the protection of her clothing, the ropes were uncomfortable at first and quickly painful. In some images, you can see the rope imprints on her legs. Needless to say, the shoot was short but it was a good initial foray into suspension.
I look forward to taking this concept further.
