This shoot, in December 2010, was two years in the making. I first met The Original Gata – Monique Dupree at a Suite Abyss party, several years ago. I was taking candid photos of everyone at the event, capturing all the wonderful attire. It was a crowded party, in a small venue, which made it all the harder to get a few good images, unspoiled by someone’s shoulder in the frame. When I first saw Monique in the crowd, I remember being taken by the beauty and serenity in her face. I took pictures of her at each opportunity I could, but left that night unsure if I had a good head shot. It wasn’t until the next day that I discovered I had achieved my initial goal with a very lovely expression, and the new goal quickly became completing a full shoot.

From that point, we chatted, agreed on a boudoir theme and two years, and I think two pregnancies later, we met again in NYC.
